Bitwise Co-Founders and CEOS on the Out of the Crisis Podcast
“There are two types of unemployment we are seeing right now. Unemployed caused by pandemic, and unemployment caused by the lockdown caused by the pandemic. This is a serious issue and will have long lasting impacts on our country if we don’t act now. Jake Soberal and Irma Olguin were already tackling the issue of unemployment and job training well before the pandemic. Bitwise, the company they founded, specialized in providing technical training to people in what they called “underdog” cities. So, when they saw the rampant unemployment, they sprung into action.”
The Out of the Crisis podcast highlights leaders from all sectors who are providing and coordinating relief efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each episode features inspiring stories of different people in different organizations offering their skills, expertise, and resources to individuals and communities affected by the ongoing crisis.
This particular episode focused on how Bitwise has been responding to the rise of unemployment caused by COVID-19 and resulting lockdown procedures. Both Jake and Irma share how Bitwise Industries sprung into action, as well as the experience of founding OnwardUS to help connect displaced workers to new job opportunities, retraining programs, and essential services.
