A Real Estate Broker’s Best Tool: Listing Alert

Bring on the happy shuffle because Shift3 is proud to introduce the launch of Listing Alert, a mobile app designed to give real estate brokers and agents advanced, exclusive access to listings before they appear on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

This groundbreaking app allows agents to instantly alert other agents within their brokerage of new listings so their firm has the first opportunity to sell the property before the information goes public. The pre-listing access allows agents to start marketing and organizing their delayed and coming-soon listings at the time the listing is taken. Essentially, agents are digitally marketing the listing internally the second the pen hits the listing agreement.

Currently, most brokerages write down pre-MLS listings on a white board within their office to share new properties internally. Agents commonly working remotely or spending their days out of the office showing homes often miss new listing notifications. Listing Alert notifies all the agents within a brokerage instantly when a new property is listed by a fellow agent, before it hits the MLS, where it’s then viewed by the public and agents from outside brokerages. It gives all the agents in the firm the advantage when it comes to sharing that listing with their potential buyers.

Sharing the Vision and Building the Vision

Founders Sandra Cox and Chase Carter had initially sought out other development firms to pitch their app idea, but other shops couldn’t see eye-to-eye on their vision. Their vision? To build an internal notification system for brokerages that was simple to navigate, easy to understand and practical to utilize on a daily basis for agents of all ages and tech levels. Simple was the key. And simple is what we built; it takes a total of one minute to open the app, enter your listing info and click save. As soon as the listing is saved, it sends a notification to all agents with the app.

Working with one project manager and a few developers, it took Shift3 six months to build from initial discovery and scoping to user acceptance testing and completion. Integrated with Stripe, Shift3 also developed a web portal for Listing Alert, which also serves as a backend management platform; brokers will operate most of their time within that portal.
