It’s that time of the year again and in case you haven’t had the chance to digest the release notes for Salesforce’s Summer ‘21, here’s an entire post to showcase our top features. As a reminder, here were the Summer release dates for 2021.
By the way, did you know this fun fact? Sandboxes can be refreshed to a preview sandbox anytime between June 12, 2021 and August 27, 2021! Use Salesforce’s sandbox preview guide to plan ahead for your sandboxes.
Now, let’s get into our picks for the top 10 of the coolest upcoming features.
We have an exciting Summer ‘21 release update for Dynamic Actions. Now we can easily and quickly configure a Dynamic Actions bar for standard and custom actions. We can also set the visibility for the entire Dynamic Actions bar.
The old days of switching back to a list view to perform mass actions are gone. You can now perform mass actions in Split views; just select all the records that you need and apply an action to all of them.
If a record is out of date while you are in report view, with the new updates and the power of inline editing, now you can update the field within a report without leaving it and the report will automatically update. Contact Salesforce support to turn on inline editing.
Record Sharing Hierarchy is now in Lightning Experience. Previously, we had to switch back to Classic to see why a user has access to a certain record. Now all you have to do is click on the Sharing Hierarchy button, click on View for the specific user and see their access details.
In this latest update, you can set an expiration date for a permission set or permission set group using the API. Just enable Permission Set Group Assignments with Expiration Dates (Beta) in User Management Settings. Then, when you assign users to a permission set group, select the expiration options that you want. You can also select no expiration date as an option.
Pipeline Inspection gives sales teams a single view of their pipelines including key metrics, opportunities, and any changes in close dates, amounts, stages, and forecast categories. These insights can help sales teams to focus on the important deals and managers to support their reps to close more deals. When enabled, users access Pipeline Inspection from the Opportunities tab.
Do you need a dashboard for your next presentation? Download the dashboard as a PNG file and use it for your presentation or document, no more screenshots!
With the new updates to the Salesforce survey tool, we can boost response rates and gather information by sending invitations to many participants in bulk. Target leads, contacts, and members of your campaign with Salesforce objects and list views.
You are now able to track your active licenses by going to Lightning Usage | Active licenses in your Production org. You can use the license metrics to decide if you need more licenses, or if there are licenses assigned to users they don’t need anymore. The data will show the most recent usage in the last 30 days.
A. Build Multi-Column Screens in Flow Builder (Generally Available) You can divide each flow screen into multiple sections and columns to create a visually appealing and effective layout—without touching a single line of code.
B. Control Over Picklist Requiredness in Flow Screens
For all picklist components, you can now enforce picklists as required for your screen flows. With API version 52.0 and later, you can also set up optional picklists in screen flows.
C. Find Failed Flows Faster
Skip your inbox and go straight to the new Failed Flow Interviews list view. Now, if your flows have failed interviews, you can find them all in one place. You can create a custom list view that includes paused and failed flow interviews. Previously, you clicked a link in a flow error email to start debugging a failed flow interview.
D. Debug Record Triggered Flows
In Flow Builder, you can easily set up how you want to debug a record-triggered flow. For all your record-trigger flows that make before-save and after-save updates, you can now choose a record and trigger a debug run. Previously, Flow Builder didn’t provide debugging for record-triggered flows.
E. Use Is Changed in Condition Logic for Start Elements and Decision ElementsUse the new Is Changed operator in your condition logic for Start elements and Decision elements in record-triggered flows. With the Is Changed operator, you can define conditions that check whether certain field values on the record changed in the current transaction.F. Use ISCHANGED, ISNEW, and PRIORVALUE in Record-Triggered Flow FormulasRecord-triggered flows for new and updated records now support the ISCHANGED, ISNEW, and PRIORVALUE formula functions. Copy your Process Builder or workflow rules formulas containing these functions into record-triggered flows. None of these formula functions are available in flows triggered when a record is deleted.
